Partner promotions put on hold

Ashurst has delayed its partner promotion round until later in the year in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in a move that sets it apart from many of its UK rivals which have already unveiled their new partners.

The firm confirmed today that it had made the ‘difficult decision’ to defer the promotions — which would have been due on 1 May — as part of its ‘Stronger Together’ programme in response to the crisis, which it unveiled on 16 April.

How does this affect you are your clients?

  1. Extra precautionary measure will need to be taken by General counsel in firms to ensure that documentation is extensively reviewed.
  2. Clear concise communications to partnering firms will need to be prioritised.
  3. Budgetary reviews will need to consider the expectations from fee earners in the months to come.

To wrap up this change means a significant shift and considerations.

Keep your key players front of mind and prioritise proactive approached where possible.
